Summer Show, Cricket & 'Room on the Broom' at Great Notley Park

What a varied and exciting week we've had so far and it's not over yet!
On Monday we were the audience for the dress rehearsal of the Summer show. It was excellent, thank you KS 2 for inviting us.

Then on Tuesday we had our final cricket lesson with a coach from Colchester Utd. We practised batting, bowling and fielding and finished with mini games.

Finally, yesterday we had our class trip to Great Notley park for a 'Room on the Broom' experience! We made magic potions, dragons, broomsticks and wands. We had a wonderful day and only got a little bit wet. Here are some of the photos I took, Mrs MacMorrin also took lots which I am sure she will upload too. Thank you so much to the mums who came with us on our trip.

Don't forget to hand in your maths homework next week about fractions.  I am looking forward to seeing how creative you've been!

Week ending 3rd July

On friday the 'new Class 2' had their taster morning in Class 2. They impressed me with their reading and writing activities on 'The Princess and the Wizard' by Julia Donaldson and then with their maths challenge activities. Here are some photos from the morning:
Noah saw 12 legs walk by into the Ark. How many creatures could he have seen?
How many different answers can you find?

Can you match and measure the worms?

Squashy box maths!

Pattern making.

Can you make a repeating pattern?

You have a stick of 7 interlocking cubes. You cannot change the order.
You break off a bit leaving it in two pieces. In how many different ways can it
be done?

Reading and recognising numbers to 20.

Puzzle making!

Thanks to Brandon Smith from Class 6, who helped us this morning!

In the afternoon, 'old' Class 2 did some lovely artwork based around the story of 'The Princess and the Wizard'. Princess Eliza changed herself into lots of different animals to escape from the Wizard. Here are some of them:

Great Wizard!!

Princess Eliza.

The black cat.

The yellow chick hiding in a field of corn!
The black cat and the purple butterfly.

The Wizard!

The blue fish.
The green grasshopper, hiding in the long grass!
