Final Blog from Mrs Riggs
Class 2 have had a very busy week. We have been looking at a wonderful book, The Day the Crayons Quit, and the children have enjoyed role playing the crayons to explore their feelings. We have had a lot of fun deciding on the different voices and facial expressions for all of the crayons, and some brave children even had a turn in the hot seat, answering questions in role as a crayon!
On Wednesday, we were lucky enough to have a visit from an animal workshop. The children learned about, and were able to touch, cockroaches, a frog, a corn snake and a rabbit, and also observed a scorpion turning blue under ultraviolet light! They were hugely brave to get up so close to the animals, whilst I observed from the back!!!
Class 2 have also been learning about 3D shapes in Maths this week. We have had lots of fun playing Guess My Shape, or Shape Bingo, and some children made 3D shapes from nets. On Friday, we investigated the properties of 3D shapes, by seeing which ones were best for making igloos; cubes, spheres or cylinders. The children made some wonderful igloos, and concluded that cubes were best, as their flat faces made it easier to fit them together.
Sadly, this will be my last blog for Class 2, as my training placement ends on Tuesday. I have absolutely loved working with the children and, of course, the staff at Fordham All Saints, and it has been a privilege to get to know them all. Thank you all for an amazing and enjoyable few weeks, which I will remember for a long time to come.
Mrs Riggs
Dear Mrs Riggs. Thank you so much for your love and care whilst working with our greatest treasures. Every time I saw you, you always had a massive smile on your face. I'm guessing that's a huge part of teaching, doing it with a smile and enabling children to connect with you.
ReplyDeleteThank you from all our us and Thank you for Molly's lovely gift. All the best for the future.
