1st December

Next week, in Literacy, we will be finishing our poetry unit with us all writing our own poems about an animal. In Maths we will be ordering numbers and working on counting in different multiples to help us learn our times tables.
Homework is all in the homework books this week and as always there are allocated books on Bug Club. Have you got a favourite book?
As Christmas is  approaching we will be practising our Nativity play. Please bring your script to school every day. Any problems with costumes, let us know. Thank you.

The Romans

At the end of last week, we began learning about the Romans. Next week we will begin learning about Queen Boudica. For the next few weeks we will be learning how to present information, including using ICT, all linked to finding out about the Romans in Britain.
In our Art lesson on friday, we learnt about mosaics and looked at some Roman mosaics and then had a go at making our own. The children couldn't wait to get started! You can see some of the results below - very impressive so far!  Well you wouldn't expect anything less from a class of Super Heroes, would you?!!

Week 10 17th November

In Literacy next week we shall be starting to look at Poetry. If you have any poetry books or favourite poems to bring in and share that would be great. Next week is 'Friendship Week' and we will be thinking about how to be a good friend and what to do if you are feeling 'left out.'  Jess will be teaching our Gymnastics session again on Tuesday so please make sure you have your shorts and t-shirt in school. Long hair to be tied up and ear-rings taken out please.
Homework includes a phonics activity in the homework book and maths on line. Those who have read their Bug Club books have new books. Don't forget to click on the green bug to answer the questions about the book.

Science and Thinking Things Through

In Science this week we have been testing materials again, this time finding out if they could be changed by twisting, squashing, bending and stretching. We recorded the results in a table and then displayed them in a graph using the computer.

In Maths we were 'Thinking Things Through' and following instructions using ordinal numbers.

In Literacy we started learning about diaries and we read 'The Diary of a Wombat' which was very funny. Next week we will be looking at some more diaries and writing our own.
In RE we were thinking about special people, in particular Saints (as it was All Saints' Day on 1st Nov.) We found out that so many places are named after them, including shopping centres and football stadiums!
Homework this week includes a phonics activity in the homework book and a maths one on Active Learn. Each child has books allocated to them on Bug Club, well done to the children who have read them - you have some new ones to read. Enjoy!
