Venetian Cooking in Class 2!

Some children in Class 2 enjoyed making Gondolas from pastry and Gondolier's hats from chocolate biscuits and chocolate marsh mellows.
The children made them as a treat for someone in their family!
Thank you so much to Mrs Wright for working with the children!

Don't worry Class 2, everyone will have a turn!!

Other children have been sketching and painting  some beautiful scenes of Venice.

We have taken our inspiration from all this from Jo-Jo the Melon Donkey.

Next week the children will write some animal stories of their own.

Sports Day

Sports day is on Tuesday this week and it looks like the weather is going to be good.
Please remember to have your PE kit in school - you will need shorts, trainers and a T-shirt in your team's colour. Don't worry if you can't remember your colour, I will remind you tomorrow. You will also need a water bottle with your name on it and a sun hat.

If you have any empty Pringles tubes please can you bring them in for tomorrow?
"What are they for?" I hear you ask - you'll have to wait and see ...!

Sand Horse Activities

Some of Class 2 went to the beach and built some beautiful sand horses and a unicorn! They made them look beautiful with shells and stones.

The children thought of lots of WOW words to describe their creatures, tomorrow they are going to do some magical writing on how their sand creatures come alive!!!

Well done Lions Literacy group!!!

Off to the music festival

Waiting patiently for it all to begin

Listening very carefully
Singing altogether

Week 2 - end of the week

On Thursday and Friday this week we are continuing to use the beautiful story:  'The Sand Horse' by Ann Turnbull & Michael Foreman. We will be writing some creative descriptions of how the sand horse comes alive. Some of us will be making our own sand creatures and writing descriptions of them.
In maths we will be working on adding and subtracting and number and place value using money.
For art and design over the next few weeks we are making dinosaur skeletons using different materials, sewing fossil bags and making our own fossils from clay to go in them.

The following week we are using the story: 'Jo-Jo the Melon Donkey' by Michael Morpurgo. The story is set in Venice. If any of you would like to find out something about Venice in preparation for this, that would be great! Perhaps some of you have been there on holiday? Photographs or pictures would be lovely!
