Fantastic Class 2!

Well done Class 2 for a fantastic year; it was great to go through your books with you at learning conferences and see just how much progress you have made - You should all be very proud of yourselves. The last couple of weeks have been very busy, but also fun. Below are a few photos of what we've been up to. Thank you parents for all your support this year and for our wonderful gifts. Have a lovely summer.

Music Festival, Sports' Day and Growth Mindsets

Another very busy, but enjoyable week ...
We started the week off with Year 2 visiting Copford School and taking part in the Music Festival. The children's behaviour was superb. We had a wonderful morning; singing, playing instruments and performing with other schools in the area.

Despite all the odds, on Tuesday we were able to go ahead with Sports' Day, only getting a bit damp!

Preparing for the relay

Congratulations Blue House - the Winners
A surprise visit from Eddie!
This week has been Growth Mindset Week and the children have been 'growing their brains.' They have been trying to change the language they use when faced with a difficult challenge. E.g. From 'I can't do this' to 'I can't do this yet!'  We have been encouraging mistakes as this is how we learn. I have been hugely impressed with the learning powers the children have demonstrated - Independence, Resilience, Co-operation, Creativity and Perseverance. See the Growth Mindset Blog for examples.

The Queen's 90th Birthday Celebrations

After an exciting trip to Hedingham Castle at the beginning of the week, we had another exciting day on Friday to celebrate the Queen's 90th Birthday.

In the morning the children made family trees of Queen Elizabeth 11 and made some great crowns to wear for our party lunch.
After lunch, Class 2 performed some wonderful country dancing, taught to the children by Ms Petts.

In the afternoon, many parents, grandparents and younger brothers and sisters joined us in Class 2 for lots of fun activities, including icing cakes, making split pin guards, sketching and painting portraits of The Queen, making flags, bunting and paper chains, making bracelets and necklaces and birthday cards for The Queen and reading the story 'The Queen's Knickers' and designing a special pair for Her Majesty!

Thanks to all the parents and grandparents who worked alongside their children.
As you can see below, we made loads of lovely things for Her Majesty's Birthday Banner ......
