Friendship Week

English this week was linked to Friendship, we read stories including Dandylion, Giraffe Is Left Out and Elmer. We had some wonderful activities where the children were able to demonstrate what being a good friend looks like, both at playtime and in class. The children took part in a range of tasks which required cooperation, team work and resilience. Here are a few examples ...

Class 5 have been writing stories for younger children and we were very lucky that they chose to read their stories to us!

In Science, Year 2 have been investigating which materials are waterproof.

Welcome back!

It was lovely to see everyone return on Tuesday. The children were keen to see their friends again and talk about what they had been doing during their holiday. There have been some amazing dragons made for the  Home Learning project, all so different and interesting.
In English we started a unit on poetry - we read some funny poems about worms and the children practised and performed their favourite, including actions! In Maths we began learning about 2D shape, sorting them and learning their properties and investigating symmetry. In Science, Year 1 started their study of materials and Year 2 continued by investigating spoons!
The children worked hard learning last half term's spellings and are using them in their writing. New spellings have been given this week. P. E. this half term is Gym and Games. Gym will be on Mondays and Games will usually be on Wednesdays.
Have a lovely weekend, see you Monday!
